What does OEM mean? What is an OEM cartridge?
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. OEMs, such as HP, Canon, Epson and Lexmark are the companies that manufacture your printers. OEM cartridges are cartridges that are branded under your OEM's brand. We offer both OEM and selected non-OEM products. All our discount printer supplies and compatible ink cartridges are fully compatible with OEM standards.
What exactly are "compatible ink cartridges?"
Compatible cartridges are manufactured by third parties (other than OEMs) and fully compatible with OEMs. Compatible cartridges are the imitation of the OEMs and could cost up to 70% less than the OEMs. Like OEM products, they are plug and print. B&D carries a full line of compatible ink cartridges with the exception of cartridges compatible with Hewlett Packard, who doesn't allow third parties to manufacture compatible ink cartridges.
How do I install a new cartridge I bought from you?
Always follow the printer manufacturer's guidelines for installing new cartridges. You may find directions in your printer user manual. Our compatible ink cartridges are made to follow the specifications of the original equipment manufacturer, so they will install exactly the same way.
Why are some cartridges so expensive?
Unfortunately, some replacement ink cartridges are so expensive that they rival the cost of the printers that they are used in. As resellers, we have only very small margins in the new OEM cartridges. In fact, almost all the proceeds from the sale price go to the manufacturer of your printer.
